Rituraag: The Resonance of North Kolkata
In the timeless corridors of Khelat Ghosh Bhavan, the echoes of heritage shall awaken once more.
An afternoon of timeless grace, Rituraag honors the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, whose spirit once moved with the cadence of Dhrupadi.
Hosted by Sovabazar Seni Sangeet Sabha 1970 with the Artist Nectar Council of Culture, this gathering on 26th July unveils six seasons through six ragas—each a fleeting brushstroke of Bengal’s eternal artistry.
Between 3 pm and 6 pm, melodies will rise within the heritage walls of Khelat Ghosh Bhavan, revealing Mukherjee’s hidden bond with Pathuriaghata’s musical lineage—an ode to the forgotten grandeur of North Kolkata’s Thakurdalans.
Rituraag: Six Seasons, One Soulful Afternoon
Under the golden arches of Khelat Ghosh Bhavan, Rituraag blossoms as a symphony of seasons—each raga a whisper of time, each note a tribute to heritage.
The program unfolds gracefully: Thumri by Shubhangi Pathak evokes summer’s warmth; Ms. Smritikona’s Kheyal, Kajri, Jhula flow through monsoon’s rhythm; Abhisek Banerjee paints autumn on Sarod; Bishok Sil’s Rudraveena hums Hemant’s pre‑winter hush; Subrata Dawn’s Violin breathes winter’s stillness; and Apratim Sil’s Sitar awakens spring’s bloom. The evening culminates with Dr. Mahua Mukherjee’s Gaudiya Nritya and Pandit Amitabho Mukherjee’s stirring “Bande Mataram.”
“We shall celebrate an afternoon devoted to the six seasons reflected through six raagas, along with live painting, book launch, and felicitations,” say the organizers.
“It will be a Dhrupadi recital of Rituraag at a heritage mansion—to revive the lost glory of North Kolkata, our dual initiative,” they add.
