“These colourful paintings are visual expressions of the emotions that we experience as we ride the roller coaster of life. These emotions appear on the faces and are felt through the twisting-turning bodies of men and women – emotions made of joyous yellows and greens that sometimes sink into leaden browns and deep purples; and of the calm blues and aquamarines that crash into violent reds and oranges. The oil paintings in this collection are the relationships with others and with ourselves while the pen and ink art renders our own reflection in nature.
These are the testimony to the courage, perseverance, and patience that establish the ambitious framework for success, and the revelation of the fears and tears that stay hidden in the foundations that are never seen, but without which there wouldn’t be the edifice of achievement. View this collection to experience the force of colours and the momentum of the brushstrokes, each of which tell a story,” says the eminent artist Shafali R. Anand.
A mechanical engineering graduate who did her post-graduation from NIFT Delhi, artist Shafali R. Anand considers painting her first love that grew into an all-consuming and everlasting passion.
“I paint what I feel, and I can paint it because my feelings transform into forms, colors and shapes. Most of my paintings are snapshots of what I saw when I felt emotions in their extremes.”
Growing up in the far-reaches of the Himalayas, artist Shafali R. Anand found a close friend and confidante in her sketchbook and they’ve been inseparable since.
She studied to be an engineer and worked to ensure that livelihood considerations didn’t interfere with her desire to spend her life in the pursuit of creating art that connected with her soul.
She has been painting professionally for a decade and half. Her work has been published internationally in The American Spectator, The Suit Magazine, Talk Business and Politics and other publications.
Her art is in private collections in India and abroad and has also been acquired by organizations around the globe including the Clinton Presidential Library at Little Rock, Arkansas, USA.
