RENOWNED HINDUSTANI VOCALIST BULBUL BOSE

BULBUL BOSE, renowned Hindustani Vocalist was born in a musical family in Siliguri, West Bengal, and her first musical lessons started at the age of 5 from her Guruji Shri. Sachin Goswami of Lucknow Gharana. Later she was trained under the guidance of renowned vocalist Shri. Gopi Mohan Roy Chowdhury and Shri. Samarendra Deb Raikat in Jalpaiguri, who was himself a student of Ustad Amir Khan Saheb of Kirana Gharana. After the demise of Samarendra Deb Raikat, she stopped practising music for quite some time. 

Bulbul Bose again started practising classical music from Vidushi Anjana Nath and presently she is under the conscientious guidance of Vidushi Prabhati Mukhopadhyay, who was a student of Ustad Bade Gulam Ali Khan Saheb of Patiala Gharana and Begum Akhtar, learning Thumri, Dadra, Bhajan, Ghazal and Raagpradhan. She also studied Rabindra Sangeet from Sri Gopal Karmakar, a former music composer at Akashvani, Siliguri. She also learnt Nazrul Geeti, Atul Prasadi and Rajanikanta songs from Smt. Nandita Karmakar, who is the famous singer of North Bengal. Bulbul Bose took interest in playing the Indian instrument esraj  and started learning from Sri Parbati Charan Chattopadhyay, staff artist at Akashvani, Siliguri. 

PERFORMANCES

Renowned musician Bulbul Bose has performed at various prestigious Classical and Semi-Classical concerts and her rendition and graceful voice has won the hearts of lovers of Classical as well as contemporary music including the Thumri-Dadra, Bhajan, Ghazal and Bengali songs. She has performed at Akashvani, Doordarshan and other local TV Channels in West Bengal. She has accompanied many renowned singers as a harmonium and esraj player. She performed many prestigious platforms in Kolkata, Murshidabad, Cochbehar, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Mangpoo and also in Bangladesh.

Bulbul Bose was honoured with a Gold Medal (M.Music) in Rabindra Sangeet from Bharatiya Sangeet Academy, Kolkata, West Bengal in 2001. She received many awards including the Millennium Award (First prize) Winner in Rabindra Sangeet in 2000 and Silver Medal in Classical Vocal in the Rajya Sangeet Academy’s Competition in Classical music.
