Ratnavalli K. P: Transforming Walls into Cultural Narratives

Renowned Kerala mural artist Ratnavalli K. P, celebrated for her artistic wall transformations that weave together creativity, culture and modern design, recently led an inspiring workshop in Jaipur.

A passionate practitioner from Kozhikode, she carries the legacy of mural traditions studied at S. K. Pottakat Cultural Centre (2002), Mahe Kalagramam, and later refined through her BFA at Mysore University (2013–2015).

Her participation, alongside Murali Chiroth, Chairman of Kerala Lalit Kala Akademi, in the prestigious “Folk & Contemporary Art Camp” at the Rajasthan International Centre (RIC) on 5 June 2026, highlighted her role in bridging heritage with innovation.

Elegantly curated by Nikhat Ansari, Rajasthan International Centre (RIC), and jointly organized by WZCC, Udaipur and RIC Jaipur, the camp became a national confluence where Ratnavalli’s mural vision stood amidst a constellation of masters—Padma Shri Paresh Rathwa, Shakir Ali, Dulari Devi, Mayank Shyam and contemporary stalwarts like Subrat Mondal, Nandalal Thakur, Purna Chandra Kishan, Chandrashekhar Sain and many others.

Through her artistry, Ratnavalli continues to embody Kerala’s mural tradition while reimagining it for modern spaces—ensuring that walls become living canvases of culture, memory and imagination.

With grace and vision, she inspires continuity of culture through every brushstroke.
