QUAD SUMMIT IN DELAWARE: STRENGTHENING GLOBAL PARTNERSHIPS FOR A PROSPEROUS INDO-PACIFIC
The Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad), comprising India, the US, Japan and Australia, recently held a significant summit in Delaware, US. During the summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized Quad’s commitment to a free, open, inclusive and prosperous Indo-Pacific. In his opening remarks, he highlighted that Quad is here to stay, assist, partner and complement. The summit occurs amid global tensions and conflicts, underscoring the importance of Quad countries working together based on shared democratic values for the benefit of humanity.
Prime Minister Modi reiterated that the Quad is not against any nation but supports a rules-based international order, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, and peaceful resolution of issues. He stressed that a free, open, inclusive and prosperous Indo-Pacific is a shared priority and commitment of Quad countries. Together, they have initiated positive and inclusive efforts in health, security, critical and emerging technologies, climate change and capacity building. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his enthusiasm for hosting the Quad Leaders Summit in India in 2025.
Before the summit, Prime Minister Modi held bilateral talks with US President Joe Biden in Wilmington, Delaware. The meeting lasted an hour, during which the leaders identified new pathways to deepen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. Prime Minister described the talks as extremely fruitful and thanked President Joe Biden for his hospitality in a social media post.
The discussions aimed to deepen the India-US bilateral partnership in areas of mutual interest, covering global and regional issues, including the Indo-Pacific. President Joe Biden stated that the US-India partnership is stronger and more dynamic than ever.
INDIA PLEDGES 40 MILLION VACCINE DOSES FOR INDO-PACIFIC COUNTRIES UNDER GAVI AND QUAD INITIATIVES
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India will contribute 40 million vaccine doses for Indo-Pacific countries under GAVI and QUAD initiatives. Speaking at the Cancer Moonshot Event during the Quad Summit, he emphasized the importance of innovative strategies to combat cancer. PM Narendra Modi thanked President Joe Biden and highlighted the Quad’s commitment to affordable, accessible healthcare. He noted India’s ongoing cervical cancer screening program and the development of its own vaccine. Prime Minister reiterated India’s vision of “One Earth, One Health,” pledging $7.5 million in support and cooperation in radiotherapy and capacity building.
Prime Minister will address the Indian community in New York today and meet with CEOs of leading US companies to foster technological collaborations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the UN General Assembly, themed ‘Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow’.
Many global leaders will attend the summit, and the Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with world leaders during his visit.
Upon arriving in Philadelphia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome from the Indian diaspora and witnessed a Garba performance at Hotel duPont in Wilmington, Delaware.
