Priyanka Aelay, believes that ‘art is a medium to express freedom of thought and the performance only reinforced that belief.’

“My work is contemporary which represents a lot of flora and fauna with a minimalist approach towards Indian miniature art.  It wishes to invite the viewer into my own web of creative impulses which are sumptuously woven into known and unknown corral forms.

The known mutate the unknown, imitating and renovating the ‘real’, as the ‘kunstwollen’ further gives rise to an innovative visual glossary of the implausible Imagery, which is predominant in my intricate detailed work,” says the artist Priyanka Aelay.

Priyanka Aelay holds a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts and participated in many solo and group Exhibitions.

She attended Women Artists Group Show in Lone Star Studios, San Antonio, Texas, USA in 2012.

Priyanka Aelay attended an Art Residency – Kalakriti Art Gallery, Hyderabad and Bordeaux Metropole, France in 2018.

“The Bordeaux Residency is very special to me.  Bordeaux is an extremely positive place with a huge historical background and vast breezy landscape. This, in fact, helped me a lot to explore. Each of my work is a juxtaposition of the Indian culture and the stories that I was raised to and the colours, experiences of my journey to and in Bordeaux,” Priyanka Aelay shares the nostalgic experiences.

“Basically I work with social scenarios, environment and nature.  I was born and brought up in a city. I do see folks a lot.  I do keep going to villages,  we do keep watching theatre plays and all of that. I do have a lot of interest in that.  But then, I have not experienced it myself, personally, emotionally; not experienced,” the renowned young artist says about the gap in cultural aspects of the new generations that are being faced while portraying social themes.

She has received many awards including from the State Art Gallery, Hyderabad

She has just completed the work on her Ph.D in Film studies and Visual Culture from English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad.
