PM Narendra Modi Begins Historic Five-Nation Tour with First-Ever Visit to Ghana

Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarks today on a significant five-nation journey, beginning with his first-ever visit to Ghana. This landmark trip underlines India’s growing global presence and commitment to deepening international partnerships.

In Accra, the Prime Minister will hold talks with President Nana Akufo-Addo, marking a fresh chapter in the strong and evolving ties between India and Ghana. 

Their discussions will focus on strengthening cooperation in key areas such as trade, energy, defence and sustainable development. 

Ghana’s political journey reflects strength through transformation. After years of alternating leadership, since  independence in 1957, the nation embraced stability, stepping boldly into its Fourth Republic—a turning point marked by peaceful elections and the return of civilian rule. 

As a unitary presidential democracy, it upholds a vibrant multi-party system, shaped over time by resilience and reform. Ghana has evolved into one of the continent’s most stable nations, with a deep commitment to healthcare, human development and economic progress. 

As a founding voice in the Non-Aligned Movement and the African Union, Ghana plays a vital role in shaping global cooperation.
