President of Vietnam To Lam’s First State Visit to India — Expanding Horizons in Tourism, Trade & Strategic Cooperation

New Delhi, 6 May 2026 — President of Vietnam To Lam, on his first state visit to India after being elected in April this year, was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan this morning. His arrival marks a significant moment, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the elevation of India–Vietnam relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
President Droupadi Murmu emphasized that the transition to an “Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” will not only invigorate bilateral cooperation but also contribute to peace and prosperity across the region. In recent years, the relationship has flourished through high-level exchanges, defence and security collaboration, and partnerships in trade, health, science, technology and tourism.
This visit is poised to open fresh avenues in tourism, culture, defence, and technology, reflecting the shared values of resilience and growth.
