Prakriti ka Sangeet: Kalapini Komkali Sings the Seasons at IIC Experience 2026
WHERE NATURE BECOMES RAGA, AND RAGA BECOMES A FEELING.
Imagine a morning when the rhythm of the seasons floats out of a concert hall.
On Sunday, 1 November 2026 at 11:00 AM, the C.D. Deshmukh Auditorium hosts renowned Hindustani classical vocalist Kalapini Komkali for Prakriti ka Sangeet, a classical vocal recital at The India International Centre (IIC), New Delhi.
A daughter-disciple of the legendary Pandit Kumar Gandharva and Vidushi Vasundhara Komkali, Kalapini is known for her distinctive Gwalior gayaki. Her repertoire spans classical ragas and the folk songs of Malwa.
Kalapini Komkali’s artistry reaches well beyond the classical raga. Her repertoire also carries the traditional songs of Malwa, rich with the folklore and earthy spirit of the region. In her inimitable voice, the Sagun and Nirgun bhajans of the saint poets take on a quiet, contemplative glow.
Her devotion to music extends beyond the stage. Through the Kumar Gandharva Pratishthan, where she serves as an active trustee, she has organised music festivals in major cities across India and in Dewas, bringing scholars, seasoned performers and young talents together. Her lecture-demonstrations are especially loved by young audiences, who find in her a guide to the world of Indian classical music.
In 2023, the Government of India honoured her contribution with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. She makes her home in Dewas, Central India, where the legacy she carries continues to live and grow.
This recital follows the cycle of nature through time. Rare bandishes and compositions of many moods carry the fragrance and spirit of each season.
