Anthony Hopkins made history as the oldest best actor.
He won the best actor award for his performance in the film The Father. Anthony Hopkins, 83 years old became the oldest actor and shared his surprise at his homeland of Wales in the UK.

CHLOE ZHAO IS THE SECOND WOMAN AND THE FIRST WOMAN OF COLOUR TO WIN BEST DIRECTOR OF OSCAR
Chloe Zhao has bagged the prestigious Oscar Award for her third film Nomadland.
She made history at the 93rd Academy awards by becoming the first woman of colour and the second woman to win the best director award of Oscar 2021 held at Los Angeles.
The emotional life narrated by the filmmaker Chloe Zhao starring the actress Frances McDormand, was written by Jessica Bruder in 2017.
Frances McDormand has won the best actress award for her role in Nomadland.
It’s the journey of a woman who packs her voyage van and sets off to explore life as a nomad capturing the picturesque life of the American West.
Kathryn Bigelow was the first woman to win the best director award for her film ‘The Hurt Locker’ in Oscar 2009.
Chloe Zhao, the 39 year old director was born in Beijing in 1982 and later moved to the UK for studies. Later moved to the US and studied film production at New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
Chloe Zhao directed her first film, Songs My Brothers Taught Me in 2015 and premiered at Sundance Film Festival. Later it was played at Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for Best First Feature at the 31st independent Spirit Awards.
In 2017 she directed The Rider, which was produced by her father, Yuji Zhao and won many awards.
In 2018, Zhao directed her third film, Nomadland, an adaptation from Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty First Century.
The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival and won the Golden Lion Award and later played at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival and won the People’s Choice Award.
Zhao also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Director for Nomadland.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS AND ACTOR
Yuh-Jung Youn, 73 year old, well known actress of South Korea is the first Asian actress to win an Oscar since 1957. She won the award for her role in ‘Minari’.
Daniel Kaluuya, 32 year old British actor won best supporting actor award for the film Judas and Black Messiah. He is the first black British actor to win an Oscar.
