ODE TO THE LIVING – EXHIBITION THAT BRINGS TOGETHER EMINENT ARTISTS LARISSA NOURY AND YOUNG SUK KUM AT RUE MESLAY IN PARIS

“COLORS ARE NATURE’S SMILES”- LEIGH HUNT

“THE EXHIBITION ‘ODE TO THE LIVING’ IN PARIS, WHICH BRINGS TOGETHER YOUNG SUK KUM AND LARISSA NOURY, IS AKIN TO A SONG, A POEM, A PICTORIAL PHRASING, A VISUAL LANGUAGE THAT HIGHLIGHTS THE BEAUTY OF NATURE AND THE POWER FROM WHICH IT COMES”

The exhibition ‘Ode to the Living’ in Paris, which brings together Young Suk KUM and Larissa Noury, is akin to a song, a poem, a pictorial phrasing, a visual language that highlights the beauty of nature and the power from which it comes. Ode as a celebration of the living, which emanates from the artists, themselves full of vivacity to give birth to the image. The materiality of painting serves enchanted spaces, dreamlike as well as concrete and tangible. The universal and symbolic dimensions face each other on the same support, addressing everyone, highlighting subjects that escape our reality. Sometimes, the imposing size of Larissa Noury’s paintings allows us to be immersed in the dizzying landscape, often circular, virtuous, confusing and meditative. The branches on light backgrounds treated by Young Suk KUM refresh by offering sobriety and calming. The contrasts oscillate between disrupted intensity and the rest of the earth. Both seek to celebrate life, creation from the infinitely large to the infinitely small, including a painting of the flora and landscape that we think we recognize,” said Curator of the exhibition Eva Khatchadourian.

“Our objective is to offer a meeting place that brings together individuals of all ages from all socio-professional and cultural backgrounds in order to give everyone access to culture. We aim to offer young talents a cultural framework allowing them to make their art known, to contribute to the dissemination of art and culture in all its forms. Our association thus carries out a mission of general interest by participating in local social cohesion and is guided by an ethic which is based on respect for others, solidarity, fraternity and living together,” said Xavier Lespinas, Director of Communication of Agape France.

“The opening of our exhibition ‘Ode to the Living’ was a great evening with the participation of many dignitaries of culture and art at 50 rue Meslay in picturesque and historic district of Paris.  From 1700, a city of artists was established along rue Meslay, on the site of the old ramparts. Among these artists, who had their workshop on rue Meslay are Robert Le Lorrain, the two Jacob brothers, sons of Georges Jacob (cabinetmaker who greatly served the royal couple Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette), famous cabinetmakers of the early 19th century who served Napoleon 1st 5, Christophe-Gabriel Allegrain and his collaborator Jean-Baptiste Pigalle. The writer George Sand, whose real name is Aurore Dupin, was born at no. 46 rue Meslay,” says Larissa Noury, renowned artist of Belarusian origin and Architect-colourist who works as Professor of Colour ITECOM Art & Design, Paris.
