NIBEDITA BHATTACHARJEE: WEAVING ENCHANTMENT AND ELEGANCE INTO HINDUSTANI CLASSICAL MUSIC
In the vibrant tapestry of Hindustani Classical music, there exists a melody that intertwines with the very essence of tradition and emotion. This melody is embodied in the enchanting voice of Nibedita Bhattacharjee, a virtuoso from the serene town of Siliguri, nestled in North-East West Bengal.
Nibedita’s journey through the realms of classical music is nothing short of a symphony. Under the sagacious mentorship of Acharya Jayant Bose in Kolkata, where she spent over 16 years, Nibedita’s vocal artistry began to flourish, each note and nuance sculpted with the care and precision of a master craftsman. Her path was further illuminated by Smt. Sunanda Sharma Ji in Delhi, a revered disciple of the legendary Padma Vibhushan Smt. Girija Devi Ji of the Banaras Gharana. This period of tutelage wove a rich tapestry of technique and emotion into Nibedita’s repertoire, each thread echoing the grand traditions of her lineage.
Nibedita’s pursuit of musical excellence led her to RASIPA, where she studied under Pandit Rajan Mishra and Pandit Sajan Mishra, enriching her understanding with the vibrant Banaras Gharana. Guided by Padma Shri Shanti Hiranand Ji, a disciple of Begum Akhtar, Nibedita gained profound authenticity and grace.
Currently, she continues her journey under Pandit Devashish Dey Ji of the Banaras Gharana and Vidushi Tulika Ghosh from Mumbai, blending tradition with innovation in her performances.
