CELEBRATIONS ARE THERE ALL OVER THE WORLD TO WITNESS THE CHANDRAYAAN -3 scheduled to land on the lunar south pole on Wednesday, 23 August 2023. The second attempt to land on the Moon after a failure in 2019 is seen as a victory for Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO ) and the people of India.

After a 40-day journey starting from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, the Chandrayaan-3 mission is now preparing to land at 6.04 PM IST today.

 “The live stream of the landing will start at 5.27 PM IST. Ahead of the launch, it is ready to initiate the mission’s automatic landing sequence. The space agency plans to do it at 5.44 PM IST. From this point onwards, the Vikram lander will use its on-board computers and logic to try to make a soft-landing on the Moon,” ISRO shared.

Chandrayaan-3 Mission: All set to initiate the Automatic Landing Sequence (ALS). Awaiting the arrival of Lander Module (LM) at the designated point, around 17:44 Hrs. IST. Upon receiving the ALS command, the LM activates the throttleable engines for powered descent. The mission operations team will keep confirming the sequential execution of commands. The live telecast of operations at MOX begins at 17:20 Hrs. IST,” ISRO tweeted hours ago.

Space enthusiasts and educators hope that the spectacular journey will encourage scientific inquiry among the students and youth in the country and all wish for a successful landing on the Moon. All Schools and Youth organisations are conducting special screening as the landing of Chandrayaan-3 is a memorable opportunity and event for rejoicing. Prayers and ceremonies were organized all over the country for the successful landing of the mission.

In the State Capital City, Thiruvananthapuram, almost all Schools are participating in the ‘Live Streaming’ for witnessing the rare event’.

Sri Sathya Sai Arts & Science College, Saigramam, Thiruvananthapuram has planned a unique programme, INDIA’S PRIDE CHANDRAYAAN -3 LANDING LIVE STREAMING AND A DISCUSSION ON INDIA’S PURSUIT OF SPACE EXPLORATION BEYOND CHANDRAYAAN-3.  

“All arrangements have been organized by the M.Sc Physics (Specialization in Space Physics) Students of the Sri Sathya Sai Arts & Science College, Thiruvananthapuram to witness  the spectacular event, and a live discussion on India’s pursuit of space exploration beyond Chandrayaan -3,” says Professor Sumesh, Principal of the Sri Sathya Sai Arts & Science College, Thiruvananthapuram.
