LEGENDS OF TOMORROW – PRACHEEN KALA KENDRA 22ND QUARTERLY BAITHAK

Pracheen Kala Kendra, a premier organization dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of Indian Classical art and culture presents the 22nd quarterly Baithak under the ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ series on Saturday, 9 December 2023 at 6.00 PM onwards at Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi. 

Pracheen Kala Kendra organises 22nd quarterly Baithak under the ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ series on  9 December 2023 (Saturday) 6.00 PM onwards @ Triveni Kala Sangam, 205 Tansen Marg, Mandi House, New Delhi. 

FIRST PERFORMANCE – VOCAL JUGALBANDI  

Eminent artists Pandit Prakash Mishra and Pandit Deepak Mishra, accompanied by Pandit Gopal Mishra at Tabla and Shri Sumit Mishra at Harmonium will mesmerise with their amazing Vocal Jugalbandi.

Eminent artists Pandit Prakash and Pandit Deepak Mishra hail from renowned Kabir Chaura in Varanasi. Specialized in the art of Khayal gayaki, the brothers are now the torchbearers of an art forms which emerged in their family, a legacy that passed on to them from their grandfather Pandit Damodar Mishra and father Sangeet Shiromani Pandit Mohan Lal Mishra under the Guru- shishya parampara  more than 500 years ago. The vocalist duo continue their family’s age old tradition by being one of the foremost pillars of the Benaras Gharana.

SECOND PERFORMANCE – KATHAK DANCE

The second performance is of Kathak Dance by eminent artists Shri. Barun Banerjee who will be accompanied by Shri. Jaywardhan Dadhich (Vocal), Shri. Utpal Ghoshal (Tabla), Dr. Shyam Rastogi (Sitar) and Ms. Vriti Gujal ( Padhant).

Barun Banerjee is a Kathak Exponent and Guru of Lucknow Gharana, who has carved a special niche for himself in the field of Kathak. His fine skill came to the forefront in a very tender age of ten and he has been regularly honing his skills under the guidance of great maestros like Pandit Birju Maharaj and Guru Munna Shukla Ji. 

He is empanelled artist from Indian Council for cultural relations (ICCR) and ‘A’ Graded artist from Delhi Doordarshan. He was formally trained in yoga also.

Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh is the premier educational organization providing yeoman service for the promotion, preservation and dissemination of Indian classical arts of music, dance and fine arts (painting) since its inception in 1956. The organisation is imparting quality education and training under the ancient Gurukul parampara in Indian Classical Music including Carnatic Music (Vocal & Instrumental), Classical Dances (Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Odissi Dance, etc.) and Fine Arts (Painting) for the last 60 years.
