LARISSA NOURY’S BOOK PRESENTATION AND CONFERENCE IN ACADEMY OF COLOUR, BORDEAUX

“THE ACADEMY OF COLOUR OFFERS A CYCLE OF CONFERENCES SCHEDULED TO MEET SOCIOLOGISTS, ARTISTS, TEACHERS, PHILOSOPHERS, THEORETICIANS WHO WILL COME TO SHARE THEIR RESEARCH AND KNOWLEDGE,” SAID MARIE-PIERRE SERVANTIE, ARCHITECT-COLORIST AND PRESIDENT OF ACADEMY OF COLOUR, BORDEAUX.
It is also a hyphen between industrial, professional artists, researchers and architects applied colours in their work and projects.
On 16 March 2023, renowned artist,designer-colourist and architect, Dr. Larissa Noury, Ph.D in History of Art and Architecture; Guest researcher-colourist at Scandinavian Colour Institute, Stockholm; Professor of Colour ITECOM Art & Design, Paris and the President-founder ‘Color-Space-Culture’ presented her third book – ‘Symbolic in Colours. Art, design, architecture’ at the Academy of Colour, Bordeaux.
Many architects, artists and other amateurs of colour participated at the conference.

“Color is a universal, transcultural phenomenon. Whether the creation of art images, the invention of drawings for the design industry or the construction of urban spaces, it represents a system of coded messages of the visual world that helps us to apprehend, evaluate and act in different contexts.
On the other hand, the harmonies of color, with its many nuances and complex combinations, form a synthesis of knowledge and understanding of the environment. Created or appropriated by man and full of subtleties, they affect all human activities for centuries, even millennia … They influence us, surround us and create a pleasant or depressing environment, and they affect our mind, change our mood, our influence or behavior. Today’s Visual Art, Fashion and industrial design, Urban Planning or Architecture – all aspects of creation are concerned.
That is why our teaching method is at the crossroads of artistic, historical and scientific reasoning and it will help students to take an imaginary trip through time and space to explore the infinite universe of color harmonies in different cultures and cities around the world,” says Larissa Noury.
“The relationship of colors with their natural or artificial environment also changes their expressive power. There is no single rule that allows us to create a particular kind of harmony because the color combinations and the differences between colors combined depend on both tactile features of the surface, relations with the corresponding forms, and methods of interpretation, proportions and design,” said the renowned artist Larissa Noury.
