Kerala’s Swathish KP Set for Gymnastics Action at Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026

Under the shimmering lights of the OVO Hydro, the 23rd Commonwealth Games unfurled in Glasgow with a ceremony as vivid as it was historic, King Charles III presiding over the grand opening alongside Queen Camilla and dignitaries from across the Commonwealth. Seventy-four nations now stand united in sporting spirit for ten days of competition.

Today, the spotlight turns to gymnastics, where Kerala’s own Swathish KP joins fellow athletes Tapeshwarnath Das, Tapan Mohanty and Yogeshwar Singh in both team and individual events — a moment of pride for the state as one of its own steps onto this global stage.

Elsewhere in the arena, the pool and track hold their own drama: para swimmer RVVBK Budigina chases glory in the 100m freestyle S13 final, while Srihari Nataraj dives into the 50m backstroke heats en route to the semifinals.

With ten sports condensed into a tighter, more intense eight-mile stretch of venues, and India fielding 125 athletes in pursuit of bettering their 61-medal haul from the last edition, Glasgow 2026 promises fewer events but no less fierce a fight for glory.
