Renowned folk singer Kavita Singh from Uttar Pradesh has carved a distinct identity in Indian folk music through her soulful voice and unwavering dedication to cultural heritage. With a deep passion for both music and literature, she has become a respected performer on prestigious cultural platforms across the country.
Her versatile repertoire spans folk songs, bhajans, ghazals, geet, chaiti, kajri, sanskar geet and patriotic renditions, each delivered with authenticity and expressive grace. From Ayodhya Ramotsav and Awadh Mahotsav to the Ramayana Conclave, IIT Kanpur programs, and broadcasts on All India Radio and Doordarshan Lucknow, her performances have captivated audiences and earned widespread admiration.
Kavita Singh: A Voice Rooted in Heritage
Born into a culturally rich family, Kavita Singh is the daughter of eminent lyricist Shiv Kumar Singh ‘Kunwar’. Surrounded by music, poetry and tradition, she nurtured a profound love for Indian art from an early age.
A devoted disciple of Malini Awasthi, she upholds the sacred Guru-Shishya parampara, performing alongside her guru and contributing to the preservation of India’s folk heritage.

Her illustrious journey has been adorned with national and international awards, including the Kanpur Gaurav Samman by Manas Sangam, the First Flow Women Award from FICCI, and the Matri Shakti Samman from Amar Ujala Kanpur, alongside accolades from Rotary, Lions, and Bharat Vikas Parishad.

Beyond performance, Kavita Singh has dedicated nearly fifteen years to folk music education, conducting workshops with Sanskar Bharti, Sanskriti Darpan, and the U.P. State Lalit Kala Academy, as well as at Jagran College of Arts, Science and Commerce.
Actively engaged in cultural and social organizations, she serves as a member of the U.P. Sangeet Natak Akademi, Stage Arts Coordinator of Sanskar Bharti Kanpur Province, Cultural Secretary of the Sangam Kala Group, and Music Wing Head of the All India Hindi Mahasabha.
