INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL ON INDIAN DANCE: A GRAND CELEBRATION OF HERITAGE AND INNOVATION

The International Festival on Indian Dance, held from 16 October 2024, is a grand celebration of India’s rich dance heritage. The six-day festival was inaugurated by Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Culture and Tourism, at the A.P. Shinde Symposium Hall in New Delhi.

Padma Vibhushan  Dr. Sonal Mansingh and Padma Vibhushan  Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam attended the function as Guests of honor. Dr. Sandhya Purecha, Hon. Chairman of Sangeet Natak Akademi and a renowned Bharata Natyam artist, also graced the function. Many eminent artists and dignitaries attended.

This six-day cultural extravaganza in New Delhi features renowned scholars and artists, making it a significant event in the world of Indian dance.

In the session, “Roots to Routes,” chaired by the eminent artist Padma Vibhushan Dr. Padma Subramanyam, Prof. Mahua Mukherjee,  renowned Gaudia Nritya scholar, along with Pandit Amitava Mukherjee, presented an exquisite lecture demonstration on the ancient dance form of Bengal, Gaudiya Nritya, at the International Dance Symposium organized by the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi.

The festival brings together artists, scholars and students to celebrate and explore the rich diversity of Indian dance, organized by Sangeet Natak Akademi in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Indian Council for Cultural Research (ICCR).
