INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY ART EXHIBITION AT NEW DELHI

THE ETERNAL RESONANCE BETWEEN INDIAN CULTURE & KOREAN CULTURE – International Exhibition will be held from 27 June 2024 till 27 September 2024 at New Delhi.

The Exhibition will be inaugurated by H.E Mr. Jae Bok Chang, Hon. Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India at Korean Cultural Centre India, 25 A Ring Road, Lajpat Nagar 4, New Delhi on Today, 27 June 2024 @ 4.00 PM.

The exhibition will be harmonized with poems of legendary Poet Padma Shree Keshav Malik and Tea ceremony by renowned Hong Joo Yi, Director of World Tea Academy, International Tea Club, Korea.

PARTICIPATING KOREAN ARTISTS

“Korea and India clearly share a bond and intimacy with each other based on cultural similarities. From the tales of King Kim Suro and Indian Princess Heo who married with the king during then Gaya period, the transmission of culture through Buddhism, the sharing of the spirit of resistance and independence that supported each other afar in the face of modern colonial rule, the participation of the Indian medical unit in the Korean War to the current special strategic partnership relation, we have continued to maintain goodwill and friendship. The theme of this exhibition, which hopes that the long-standing resonance between these two countries will continue forever, embodies the aspirations not only of our Cultural Center but also of the two countries,” says the organizers of the Show.

Eminent artist Minjoo Lee, President of Korea India Contemporary Artists Association and President of Samsim Art curated this exhibition. She studied BFA and MFA from College of Fine Arts, Seoul National University and participated in many solo and group exhibitions including in NewYork, Shanghai, Madrid, Berlin, Washington and many prestigious Museums. She worked as adjunct professor and lecturer at Seoul National University, Korea University and Kyunghee University.

“Employing numerous brush strokes and wrinkles, goes up and down between the present and afterlife, contemplating her mother’s life and agony and her future and protecting her mother,” says the organisers on the artworks of the renowned artist and curator Minjoo Lee who presents her exquisite works here in the show.

Renowned artist Seongkyoo Jeon who participated in many shows internationally presents his paintings and explains the inspiration on the ‘Narrow Road’ that summons ‘Faraway Place’ here in the show. He presently works as the Professor of Mokpo National University, Korea.

Eminent artist Mansoo Lee studied BFA and MFA at Hong-ik University, Seoul and presently working as Professor of Sungshin Women’s University, Korea.

Renowned artist Eunsook Lee focuses primarily on liberal expressions and tries to recover humanity to have wisdom and insights, understand the laws of nature, through her paintings. She studied BFA and MFA from University of Pennsylvania, USA and conducted solo and group shows all over the world.

“Painting is an immediate expression of becoming one with my body through the sense of the brush. An era will arrive in which AI will create masterpieces by compiling masterpieces and AI robots will soon appear to replace humans, but paintings will continue to exist as a medium through which human nature, smell and touch can be felt,” says Kim, Ho-June who studied BFA, MFA and honoured Ph.D from Seoul National University, Korea.

PARTICIPATING INDIAN ARTISTS

“Stainless steel is a medium that I enjoy working with even though it is very demanding and unforgiving. Unlike bronze that may be melted and recast and reused, in stainless steel, when one makes a mistake, one usually has to junk the entire piece and start afresh. Which is why one has to work meticulously with lots of precision and planning,” says the renowned artist Shovin Bhattacharjee who has conducted many exhibitions in India and abroad. He has received many awards including the State Award by the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Meghalaya and prestigious National Scholarship from Lalith Kala Akademi, New Delhi.

Eminent artist Niren Sen Gupta conducted numerous shows in India and abroad, worked in many prestigious museums including National Gallery of Modern Art, Beijing National Museum, South Korean Museum, Belgium Religious Museum and more. He lives in Delhi now.

Renowned artist Kalicharan Gupta studied at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, conducted many shows, workshops and seminars in India and abroad. Recipient of many awards including fellowships from Department of Culture, Government of India, National Award from Lalit Kala Akademi and published many articles in many leading Newspapers and magazines of international repute in Korea, India and Russia. He works as Secretary, Academy of Visual Media, New Delhi.

Renowned artist Meena Deora studied art under the guidance of eminent artist Rameshwar Broota at Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi and participated in many art shows, art camps in India and abroad. She is the recipient of the2 years Scholarship of the Department of Culture, Government of India and the prestigious award from Sahitya Kala Parishad, New Delhi.

Renowned artist Santosh Kumar Verma studied MFA from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and won many awards including National Academy Award, AIFACS Award, Sahitya Kala Parishad Award and Department of Culture, Government of India. Participated in many exhibitions and worked with many prestigious institutions in India and abroad.

“We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Korea-India Contemporary Artists Association and the participating Korean and Indian artists who planned and prepared this exhibition, especially to Lee Minjoo, the President of the Association,” said the organizers of the Contemporary Art Exhibition.
