In-Between the Dialogue: Spasht–Aspasht, a Mother-Daughter Art Exhibition at Gallery ArtCradle, Gurugram
Some conversations never need words. At Gallery ArtCradle in Gurugram, one of them is about to be hung on the walls.
In-Between the Dialogue: Spasht–Aspasht brings together mother-daughter duo Jyoti Singh and Shreya Singh in a two-person exhibition curated by Asmita Grover. It opens on 25 September and runs until 6 October 2026 at DLF Phase 1, Gurugram.
Shreya Singh, a young artist, explores the balance between movement and stillness, giving form to feelings that words often miss. Jyoti Singh’s own creative journey began while nurturing her daughter’s dreams. It has since grown into a world of intricate detail, imagination and emotion on canvas and paper.
The two practices never merge into one voice. They stand independently and speak to each other in a quiet exchange. The title, Spasht–Aspasht, means “clear and unclear”, a nod to everything expressed through colour, texture and gesture, and everything left unspoken. It is a story of individuality and togetherness, and of how encouragement becomes possibility.
Speaking about the curatorial vision, Asmita Grover says, “Bringing their works together, the exhibition does not attempt to merge the two practices into a single artistic vocabulary. Instead, it allows them to exist independently while remaining connected through the relationship that brought them into the same creative space. Their works engage in a quiet exchange, reflecting how artistic journeys can develop alongside one another while retaining their individual voices.”Asmita Grover is a museum curator and heritage professional specialising in museum interpretation, historical research, exhibition development and cultural heritage. She holds an MPhil from Trinity College Dublin and has academic training in History, Museum Studies, and Public History & Cultural Heritage.
