HINDUSTANI CLASSICAL VOCALIST

Born in a family of high musical traditions, Sujata Gurav started her early training of Kirana Gharana tradition of Hindustani Classical music under the guidance of her father and Guru Late Pandit Sangameshwar Gurav.

Pandit Sangameshwar Gurav was a doyen, a well- known musician of Kirana Gharana tradition. Her father groomed her into an outstanding vocalist at a very early age itself. Currently, she is the disciple of her brother Pandit Kaivalya Kumar Gurav.

Sujata Gurav studied for a Master Degree in Music from Karnataka University, Dharwad and now working as Guest Faculty in Music department, Karnataka Arts College, Dharwad.

Sujata Gurav has performed in many concerts all over the country including Hari Vallabh Samaroh, Jalandhar, Panjab; Tansen Sangeet Samaroh, Gwalior; Nadam 2018 at Kolkata; Delhi Karnataka Sangha, New Delhi; Ritu Basanth Programme, Udaipur, Rajasthan.

Sujata Gurav has also received many awards including ‘Outstanding artists in Naada Habba’ in 1992; ‘Sangeet Vikas Ratna’ in 2004; ‘Dashakada Sadhakaru’ by Radhakrishna Academy, Hubballi in 2010; ‘Tappa Tumari’ award by South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur.
