On 29 April 2022, Vaishlai Kala Kendra will celebrate WORLD DANCE DAY at Triveni Kala Sangam in New Delhi, featuring performances by dancers of various generations who have come together to appreciate dancing.
“The Kendra presentations are a blend of modern and ancient dance concepts through Odissi dances keeping the traditions and carrying forward the vision of the late Guru Srinath Raut. Guru Pranam Utsav has presented many eminent artists like Sonal Man Singh, Ramli Ibrahim, Deepti Omcheri Bhalla, Kavita Dwivedi, Aruna Mohanty,” says Dr. Jyothi Shrivastava, artistic director and founder & director of the Vaisali Kala Kendra, who has presented dance recitals in all the major dance festivals of India and abroad..
Odissi recitals will include performances by young budding dancers and senior performers including Dr. Jyothi Shrivastava, Shaily Chatterjee, Rahul Varshney and Kaori Naka.
Shaily Chatterjee, the lead dancer is a ‘Nritya visharad’ and a graded artist of Doordarshan and also a recipient of the 11th National Women Excellence Award by IECSME. She has been imparting training in Odissi at the Indian Cultural Centre, Qatar also.
Kathak presentations by Divyanshi Pasricha, Gauri Dubey and Pranavi Bansal will be another attraction of the programme.
Vaishali Kala Kendra, for more than two decades has been organising “Guru Pranam Utsav” in the memory and honour of late Guru Srinath Raut who dedicated his life to proliferating the importance of Odissi as a cultural dance form.
