Gaudiya Nritya Shines at South City Classical Dance Festival 2026: Dr. Mahua Mukherjee’s Enchanting Performance
On the luminous evening of January 10th, 2026, the South City Residency transformed into a sanctum of classical elegance, hosting the much-anticipated South City Classical Dance Festival Nite.
Amidst a constellation of India’s finest dance exponents including Dr. Thankamani Kutty, Padmashri Mamata Shankar, Smt. Priti Patel, Smt. Sharmila Biswas, Shri Sandip Mallick, Smt. Gargi Niyogi, Smt. Malabika Sen, Shri Diptangshu Paul, performance of Dr. Mahua Mukherjee’s Gaudiya Nritya Team, radiated with rare grace and cultural depth.
A torchbearer of Bengal’s classical heritage, Dr. Mukherjee brought to life the lyrical soul of Gaudiya Nritya, a dance form rooted in Vaishnavite traditions and poetic devotion. Her choreography unfolded like a painted scroll—each gesture steeped in bhakti, each movement echoing the cadence of Sanskrit verses and medieval Bengali padavali. With her team, she sculpted a visual hymn, where rhythm met rasa, and tradition embraced innovation.
The audience, spellbound by her nuanced abhinaya and fluid grace, witnessed not just a performance but a cultural revival. Dr. Mukherjee’s presence at the festival was more than symbolic—it was a reaffirmation of Gaudiya Nritya’s rightful place among India’s classical pantheon.
Gaudiya Nritya artists, led by the distinguished Dr. Satabdi Acharya, were gracefully felicitated at the festival, their spellbinding performance leaving the audience in collective admiration.
