A Group Exhibition – EXPRESSIONS OF LIFE is on show at Ishii Gallery, Ram Chhatpar Shilp Nyas, Samne Ghat, Varanasi from 11th to 20th August.

The exhibition was inaugurated by eminent Dhrupad Singer Pandit Ritvik Sanyal. 

This exhibition is showcasing different expressions and concepts of human life through paintings, drawings, graphics and sculptures.

This is a group Show exhibiting the artworks by five artists. Though they hail from different states of the country yet one thing is common that they all teach in the same institute i.e. Faculty of Visual Arts at BHU.

Suresh k. Nair, a senior artist of international acclaim from Kerala presented his concept of thousand postures in his huge composition of small drawings. While Suresh Jangid from Rajasthan represents his home state with vibrant colour scheme and classic composition with contemporary stylization. Graphics with a realistic approach are remarkable in Vijay Bhagat’s etchings, hailing from Jharkhand. Mahesh Singh from Rajasthan portraits his emotions through facial expressions. On the other hand Saheb Ram Tudu from Jharkhand explores the concept of life and death through his experimental sculptures with bamboo sticks and threads.

A musical evening programme was also organised on the opening day.

Dr. Madhumita Bhattacharya from Faculty of Performing Arts, BHU presented her melodious hindustani singing. She started her performance with ‘Sakhi man Lage na in raga Bageshree. Then she presented raag megh Malhaar, drut teen taal, dadra, kajari and concluded with an amazing bhajan.

Mr. Gyanswaroop Mukharjee and Mr. Narendra Mishra accompanied her respectively on Tabla and harmonium.

Technical support was headed by Mr. Narendra Mishra.

The event was hosted by noted sculptor Prof. Madan Lal Gupta and Mr. Aaditya Deep.
