Exploring the Art of Mudras: A Bharatanatyam Workshop in Pondicherry
In the heart of Pondicherry’s cultural quarter, TASMAI, A Centre for Art & Culture, invites all to immerse in the expressive world of Asamyuta Hasta | Mudras – Learning through Experience, a unique workshop led by Varsha Pawar, renowned dancer, Choreographer, Mime and Fine Artist; and renowned artist Kirti Chandak.
Scheduled for Saturday, September 13th, 2025, this two-hour journey (3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.) blends the grace of Bharatanatyam with the precision of visual art, offering participants a rare opportunity to both perform and illustrate the intricate hand gestures that define classical Indian storytelling.
“Discover the beauty and art of single hand gestures or Asamuta Hastas, a fundamental aspect of Indian classical dance and story telling,” says the organizers of the workshop.
This workshop is more than a class—it’s a celebration of heritage, movement and meaning.
