DIPIKA ROY – GAUDIYA NRITYA: A MESMERIZING CLASSICAL DANCE PERFORMANCE IN KOLKATA
On the evening of 16 September 2024, the prestigious Gyan Mancha in Kolkata was graced by the enchanting performance of Dipika Roy, a celebrated Gaudiya Nritya dancer.
The event, organized by Bangiya Nritya Karmee Aikya Mancha, showcased the rich cultural heritage of Bengal through the classical dance form of Gaudiya Nritya.
Dipika Roy, under the esteemed guidance of her Guru, Dr. Mahua Mukherjee, has been dedicatedly practicing Gaudiya Nritya since 2007. Her journey in this classical dance form has been marked by numerous accolades, including the Senior National Scholarship and a Gold medal at the state level. She is also the first rank holder in the West Bengal Sangeet Academy.
The performance began at 6:00 PM, captivating the audience with its intricate footwork, expressive gestures, and rhythmic movements. Dipika’s dedication and passion for Gaudiya Nritya were evident as she brought to life the stories and emotions embedded in this ancient dance form. Her performance was a testament to her years of rigorous training and her deep understanding of the art.
Dipika has not only performed extensively in Kolkata but has also showcased her talent in various states across India, including Patna, Tomluk, Bardhwan, Rishikesh, Ahmedabad, Nabadwip, Jalpaiguri and Delhi. Her workshops on Gaudiya Nritya have further contributed to the preservation and promotion of this classical dance form.
