“Dhaka to Banaras” Art Exhibition Opens at BHU, Celebrating Cross-Cultural Creativity
IN THE SACRED CITY OF VARANASI, WHERE TRADITION MEETS TIMELESS ART, BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY UNVEILED THE EVOCATIVE EXHIBITION “DHAKA TO BANARAS” ON 10TH NOVEMBER 2025.
Inaugurated by Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, Hon. Vice Chancellor of BHU, the show features the soulful works of Md. Fariaz Emran and Niharika Awhona Barsaat—two young visual artists from Bangladesh whose canvases echo memory, emotion and spiritual depth.
Curated by Dr. Rajiv Mandal, the exhibition drew an esteemed gathering of artists and scholars including Prof. Uttama Dixit, Dean, Faculty of Visual Arts; eminent artist Prof. Suresh K.Nair, BHU; eminent artist S. Pranam Singh; Prof. S.V.S Raju, V C, Banda University of Agriculture and Technology; Prof. Rajesh Singh, International Coordinator, BHU; Prof. Sangeeta Pandit, Dean, Performing Art Faculty, BHU and Dr. Sunil Kumarvishwakarma, Chairman, State Lalit Kala Akademi (UP).
The exhibition, open daily from 11 AM to 5 PM until 14th November, has already stirred admiration.
The “Dhaka to Banaras” exhibition opened not just with brushstrokes on canvas, but with heartfelt admiration from the academic and artistic community.
“Both artists draw deep inspiration from the spiritual wisdom of Sufism—especially the words of Rumi, Lalon Fakir, and Rabindranath Tagore,” shared Prof. Suresh K. Nair, BHU.
Prof. Sunil Choudhary, Head of the Department of Radiotherapy & Radiation Medicine at IMS, BHU, expressed his deep appreciation, saying, “It was overwhelming to see the beautiful paintings in the exhibition. Really appreciate the hard work of the artists and the Programme curators for putting up such a fabulous show.”
Echoing this sentiment, eminent artist S. Pranam Singh offered his warm congratulations, remarking, “Congratulations to both the promising young artists for their exhibition.”
