Bharatnatyam is a major form of Indian classical dance that originated in Tamil Nadu. The dance form is briefly mentioned as “ Bharata Natya” in the Kannada text Manasollasa written by Someshwara III. It has flourished in the temples and courts of Southern India since ancient times.

One of the aspects of Bharatnatyam is Hastas (Hand Gestures). During this workshop VARSHA ANAND PAWAR a.k.a CHUBBY RAIN will be teaching how to use Hastas for making a small dance composition including Storytelling.

A Bachelor in Performing Arts (Bharatnatyam) under the guidance of Padmabhushan Dr. Smt.Kanak Rele at Nalanda Nritya Mahavidyalaya, Varsha is a Professional Dancer, Choreographer, Mime and Fine Artist, Street Animator.

She has been running the Institute Nritya Nirvana for 6 years. As a teacher she has worked with Dmakers, Natan Kala Academy, Dilkhush Special School for Specially abled students in Mumbai and made a strong effort to organise and conduct workshops for rural kids in Boisar.

Currently she is an active part of Sports Dance Association, Art of Silence (Performing arts group) and is currently working as a Research Assistant at Mooladhwani in Movement & Expression – Auroville.
