Backdoor Caravan Unveils Bivotsho Utsav — A Sonic Rebellion from Kolkata
Kolkata’s experimental collective Backdoor Caravan will release on 6th May, their latest creation — Bivotsho Utsav, a Bengali song that pulses with raw energy and layered symbolism. The track emerges as both a celebration and a confrontation—its soundscape weaving together haunting vocals, textured instrumentals, and a visual aesthetic that speaks of blindness, restriction and awakening.
The organisers describe its spirit with striking clarity: “This song is about protest, this song is telling the Villain to look in the mirror.”
The release resonates with the group’s ethos of pushing boundaries. “Bivotsho Utsav” is not merely a song but a statement—an exploration of oppression and resilience, where music becomes a caravan moving through hidden doors of consciousness. The imagery accompanying the release of their first proper rock song, stark and evocative amplifies the message: art as protest, art as vision, art as liberation.
With this offering, Backdoor Caravan continues to carve a distinct space in Kolkata’s independent music scene, blending Bengali cultural roots with contemporary experimental sound.
