AUROVILLE ART FOR LAND CELEBRATES THE 150TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF SRI AUROBINDO AND 75TH YEAR OF INDEPENDENCE OF INDIA FROM 7 AUGUST 2022 TO 4 SEPTEMBER 2022.
“August 15th is my own birthday and it is naturally gratifying to me that it should have assumed this vast significance. I take this coincidence, not as a fortuitious accident, but as the sanction and seal of the Divine Force that guides my steps on the work with which I began life, the beginning of its full fruition…….” Sri Aurobindo’s Independence Day message that contains his great ‘ Dreams of World Union’.
AUROVILLE ART FOR LAND EXHIBITION 2022 celebrates the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sri Aurobindo and 75th year of independence of India.
On 7 August 2022 inaugurated the 7th year of Art for Land, the beautiful support action whose proceeds go to A4A for land purchase, an innovative funding for completing and consolidating Auroville’s Master Plan Area which was started years back.
This week on August 15th, the Acres for Auroville Land Campaign will begin the 9th year of its unity action.
‘Acres for Auroville’ is a collaboration between Auroville’s Lands for Auroville Unified(LFAU) and the worldwide Centers of Auroville International.
“A collective experiment for the progress of humanity” … a “first step” for developing the “organised and harmonious diversity” for the world’s evolution that Sri Aurobindo said was needed and inevitable … a showcase for ‘the multiple oneness of the Human Family’…… and a way for The Mother ‘to give a concrete form to Sri Aurobindo’s great teaching that all the nations are essentially one and meant to express the Divine Unity upon earth through an organised and harmonious diversity’ ….. and this because Truth lies in union rather than in division,” Mandakini, Auroville’s Lands for Auroville Unified (LFAU) and Art for Land remembers Mothers words during this auspicious occasion.
Artists from Auroville, Pondicherry, artists across India and abroad participated in the Exhibition. The eminent artists participating include Adil Writer, Christel, Dilip Patel, Jyoti Khare, Vivechana, Dipti Agarwal, Terra, Karin H, Pierre Legrand, Anangajit Chatterjee, Luigino F, Ben and Kartu. Altogether 163 paintings including more than 20 wood works and 30 ceramic works that were donated for the Art for Land are exhibited in the show.
THE MONTH LONG PROGRAMMES WAS INAUGURATED BY DR. JAYANTI RAVI, SECRETARY AUROVILLE FOUNDATION ON 7 AUGUST 2022. DILIP PATEL, KIRTI CHANDAK, MEENAKSHI AKKA AND JAYA ATTENDED THE FUNCTION
