Anandam: A Mesmerizing Evening of Rabindranritya and Odissi Dance
Anandam—a soulful celebration of Rabindranritya and Odissi—was recently hosted by Divine Inspiration at the Dr. Triguna Sen Auditorium, Jadavpur.
Founded by eminent sitarist Anjan Saha and renowned Odissi dancer Dr. Kaberi Sen, the institution brought together tradition and grace in a performance that captivated a packed audience. The evening unfolded like poetry in motion, blending classical rhythms with expressive storytelling, leaving hearts stirred and spirits uplifted.
Grace in Motion: A Tribute to Tagore
The evening opened with Varsha Vandana, a soulful invocation of the monsoon, choreographed by Dr. Kaberi Sen and performed by her devoted students of Divine Inspiration.
This was followed by Madhulata, a stunning Rabindranritya production featuring Kasturi Dutta, Sutapa Sarkar, Tiasa Mitra, Manimala Bhaduri and Surashmi Chatterjee—each dancer weaving poetry and emotion into every graceful step.
A Radiant Celebration of Odissi
The second half of Anandam unfolded in rhythmic splendor with a captivating sequence of Odissi dance performances. Students of Dr. Kaberi Sen presented traditional pieces like Ganesh Vandana, Batu and graceful Pallavis, met with warm applause. Dr. Sen’s own luminous rendition of Chid-haran Lila, set to music by maestro Anjan Saha, stood out as a breathtaking highlight.
A poised solo by senior student Reetaja Pal Choudhury and heartfelt performances by Susmita Seal, Raya Chowdhury, Riti Chowdhury, Nishtha Sinha, Shreeya Kundu and Sanvi added depth and brilliance to the evening’s artistic journey.
