Amarnath Yatra 2026 — Sacred Journey Begins with Pratham Puja
In the snow‑clad heights of Jammu and Kashmir, the holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath Ji has once again opened its timeless embrace.
Lieutenant Governor Shri. Manoj Sinha performed the Pratham Puja, marking the ceremonial start of the annual pilgrimage. The Amarnath Yatra will officially commence on July 3 and culminate on August 28, 2026, drawing devotees into the Sind Valley’s glacial silence and divine resonance.
At 3,888 m (12,756 ft) above sea level, the cave shrine — one of the revered 51 Shakti Pithas — remains inaccessible for most of the year, opening only briefly in summer. Surrounded by glaciers and snow‑covered peaks, it is both a physical odyssey and a spiritual ascent.
The Amarnath Yatra, consecrated by the annual Pratham Puja, gathers lakhs of pilgrims in a seamless harmony of faith and service — with the Shrine Board, security forces, and local communities working together to ensure a safe, serene, and spiritually fulfilling journey.
