Inaugurating the Exhibition, Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh Pranay Kumar Verma said:

“Aadiyogi Shiv: A Journey in Cosmic Indigo’ celebrates the profound and timeless essence of Lord Shiva as Adiyogi, the first yogi and the embodiment of cosmic consciousness.

Hands-on experience on ‘Indigo Painting on Handspun Khadi, aims to bring us closer to the traditional craft of indigo dyeing and its connection to the renowned handspun khadi fabric. Such initiatives not only preserve our age-old crafts but also encourage collaboration and skill-sharing between our artists and artisans”.

There is no beginning, no end, all encompassing, omnipresent Shiv is present in all of us,” says Sangeeta Gupta

“These works are born out of infinite, formless energy of Aadiyogi Shiv, Ardhanarishwar, the ultimate feminist.

There is no beginning, no end, all encompassing, omnipresent Shiv is present in all of us,” says Sangeeta Gupta, renowned artist, poet and filmmaker.

“We have to return to the basics if we want to survive in peace. Hand spun khaddar is environment friendly and natural colour and dye are handmade too, they are chemical free. Therefore, to promote sustainable living and promote natural indigo I decided to create this painting that is abstract, conceptual, minimalist painting on natural sustainable hand spun khaddar with organic indigo colour and dye,” she added.

Many dignitaries from public and cultural life from Bangladesh including Prof. Nisar Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Fine Arts, Dhaka University and Shri. Pijush Bandopadhyay graced the inaugural function.
