A VOICE THAT HONORS THE NATION, A SOUL STEEPED IN TRADITION—DR. CHETNA PATHAK SINGS FOR INDIA

Dr. Chetna Pathak Shines at Vande Mataram’s 150th Anniversary Celebration in New Delhi

Renowned Hindustani classical vocalist Dr. Chetna Pathak, disciple of Padma Vibhushan Dr. Prabha Atre of the Kirana Gharana since 1999, recently graced the national stage with a soul-stirring rendition of Vande Mataram at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi, on 7th November 2025, commemorating the song’s 150th anniversary in the presence of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji. 

Under the musical direction of violin maestro Dr. Mysore Manjunath, Dr. Chetna Pathak shared the stage with legends like Pandit  Sajan Misra, Yella Venkatesh, Dr. Mysore Nagmani Shrinath, Pandit Vinod Dwivedi, Pandit Ronu Majumdar, Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya, and Pandit Sanjeev Abhayankar, adding her voice to a historic moment of cultural pride. 

An ‘A’ grade artist with All India Radio in both classical and light classical genres (Thumri, Dadra, Tappa), Dr. Chetna Pathak has performed across major festivals in India, conducted workshops, and delivered lecture-demonstrations with grace and depth. 

A reference panel artist for ICCR and SPICMACAY, she currently serves as Professor of Music at the University of Mumbai, and has recorded over 550 compositions for audio CDs based on her Guru’s works—Swarangini, Swaranjani, and Swarrangi—preserving and propagating the legacy of Indian classical music.

Born into a traditional musician’s family in Udaipur, Dr. Chetna Pathak carries the fragrance of heritage in every note she sings. Gifted with a mellifluous voice and a deep-rooted passion, she began her musical journey at the age of eight under the loving guidance of her parents, Smt. Madana and Shri Ramnarayan ji. A devoted disciple of Padma Vibhushan Dr. Prabha Atre, Chetna Pathak has mastered both classical and light classical forms—Thumri, Dadra, and Tappa—and enriched her Tappa gaayaki under Pandit Bala Saheb Poonchwale of the Gwalior Gharana. 

As a torchbearer of the Kirana Gharana, she has conducted workshops, delivered lecture-demonstrations, and performed at major music festivals across India. 

Scholarships and Recognition

Her excellence has been recognized through prestigious scholarships, including the National Scholarship by CCRT, the Senior Scholarship for Rare Art Music (Rajasthan Maand) by the Ministry of Culture, and the State Level Scholarship from Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Academy—each a testament to her dedication and artistry.

Dr. Chetna Pathak stands as a radiant voice in Indian classical music, honoured with top prizes in Mand Gayan, Fagun, Yuva Utsav, and national-level vocal competitions. Her artistry has earned her prestigious awards like the Maharana Fateh Singh Award, Surmani, Dagar Award, and Sangeet Surnandan, among many others. 

Dr. Chetna Pathak, a gifted vocalist and devoted disciple of Guru Dr. Prabha Atre, has lent her voice in support of her Guru’s lec-dems and concerts across the globe—from New York, Boston, Washington DC, and Toronto, to the Darbar Festival in London and the Bangladesh Classical Music Festival. Her journey is adorned with top honors in Mand Gayan, Fagun, Yuva Utsav, and national-level competitions in classical, light, and folk music—each award echoing her dedication to the soul of Indian music.

From Shruti Mandal, Jaipur and Maharana Kumbha Sangeet Samaroh, Udaipur, to the revered Haridas Sangeet Sammelan, Vrindavan, Sawai Gandharva Festival, Pune, and international platforms like Toronto, Canada, her performances reflect both devotion and mastery. Whether at tributes to legends like Pandit Bhimsen Joshi or workshops nurturing young talent, Dr. Chetna Pathak journey shines as a tapestry of memorable concerts, lec-dems, and festivals that celebrate the timeless spirit of Indian classical music.

WITH OVER 550 COMPOSITIONS RECORDED FROM HER GURU DR. PRABHA ATRE’S WORKS, AND 19 LECTURE-DEMONSTRATIONS IN THE ACCLAIMED SERIES ALOK, CHETNA CONTINUES TO INSPIRE AS A TRUE TORCHBEARER OF TRADITION.
