A great  novel  written  by Khaled  Hosseini 
Khaled Hosseini portrays  the  struggle  and sorrows  of two  women in Afghanistan during  and after the factional war in Afghanistan. The atrocities  and sufferings  faced by  Mariam and  Laila are  nothing  but the  brutality against female  and their endurance. Bombings, indiscriminate  shelling, imprisonment, rape, intimidation and all  kinds of human rights violations  were unleashed  against  women.

Even  after a long  period of more than  20 years, We  are  still  witnessing  many  attacks in Afghanistan by Talibans.
The  novel draws us from  the  memories of  the  past  and  still keeps it alive even  today.
