Sri Sri Omkarnathdeb Anudhyan: A Sangeet Samaroha in Kolkata Marks the Chaturmasya Vrat at Mahamilan Math

Omkarnath Mission Parampara Sangeet Samaroha presents an evening of classical devotion as Omkarnath Mission honours the 120-day-long Chaturmasya Vrat with music, memory and reverence.

On 16th August 2026, Sunday, the courtyard of Omkarnath Mission, Mahamilan Math on Omkarnathdeb Sarani, Kolkata, will fill with strings, breath and rhythm as ‘Sri Sri Omkarnathdeb Anudhyan’ unfolds from 6:00 pm onwards — a musical offering.

The gathering marks the ongoing 120-day-long Chaturmasya Vrat observed at Mahamilan Math, a period of spiritual discipline and reflection deeply woven into the Math’s tradition. Music, here, becomes a form of anudhyan — a meditative remembrance — rendered not in silence but in melody.

AN ENSEMBLE IN CONVERSATION

Four musicians will carry the evening, each an accomplished voice within Kolkata’s rich classical landscape.

Saikat Mazumder lends his vocals to the samaroha, anchoring the evening in the emotive core of classical singing.

Partha Pratim Roy brings the sitar’s meditative resonance, its strings tracing the same contemplative spirit that defines the Chaturmasya period itself.

On tabla, Mainak Mukherjee provides the rhythmic pulse that binds voice and string together, while Sayan Chatterjee on harmonium rounds out the ensemble with its warm, sustaining drone.

Together, their instruments do not simply accompany one another — they converse, much like the disciplined stillness of a vrat gives way, in the evening hours, to devotion expressed through sound.

A SETTING STEEPED IN TRADITION

Mahamilan Math, the venue for this samaroha, has long stood as a spiritual anchor for the Omkarnath Mission and its followers.

Hosting the Anudhyan within its premises situates the evening not as a standalone concert, but as an extension of the Math’s ongoing observance — a reminder that classical music in this tradition has always shared its roots with prayer.
