Amid this spirit of remembrance and pride, acclaimed Dwijendra Award-winning musician and Bengali playback singer Jaya Biswas from Kolkata presents her soul-stirring rendition of Vande Mataram, in its original Sanskrit version, as a heartfelt tribute to the motherland.
Penned by the legendary Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and first published in Anandamath (1882), Vande Mataram remains a timeless anthem of unity and freedom. Composed by Gobinda Sanjib Debnath and presented by Milton Music, this rendition honors the freedom fighters whose courage was fuelled by its immortal words.
Jaya Biswas — gold‑medalist in Sugam Sangeet, crowned Sangeet Ratna and Sangeetsree in Nazrul Geeti — carries decades of luminous artistry, flowing from Bengali cinema to Doordarshan’s stage. Her voice, steeped in devotion, ghazal, raag‑based modern songs, and the timeless cadence of Nazrul, has found resonance through countless releases with T‑Series, Raga Music, and beyond. This year, her music school, a sanctuary of melody, marked its Silver Jubilee — a testament to her enduring legacy and the generations she continues to inspire.
