Bhogapuram International Airport Ushers in a New Era of Travel, Culture & Growth 

The inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram marks a defining moment for Andhra Pradesh’s northern frontier. 

Built at a cost of ₹5,000 crore under the PPP model by GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Limited, this modern facility is envisioned as a catalyst for transformation. 

Spread across 2,200 acres, with 500 acres reserved for future expansion, the airport is designed to global standards and will soon welcome millions of travelers annually—6.3 million in its first phase, scaling to 18 million in later stages.

For Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam, the airport is more than infrastructure; it is a cultural and economic bridge. 

Vizag, celebrated as the “City of Beaches & Hills,” is already riding a ₹5,000 crore tourism wave. The coastline from Kailasagiri to Bhogapuram is being reimagined with beach shacks, cruise terminals, and water sports, while the Eastern Ghats and Alluri Sitharama Raju district promise untouched ecotourism escapes. Heritage seekers will find resonance in Buddhist sites like Thotlakonda and Bavikonda, alongside spiritual landmarks such as Simhachalam Temple.

The airport also strengthens Vizag’s position as a hub for business and luxury tourism (MICE), complementing the rapid growth of the Madhurawada IT corridor. With seamless international connectivity, North Andhra is poised to attract global investors, leisure travelers, and cultural explorers alike.
