Anupama Dey Das – Voice of Tripura’s Musical Heritage
Anupama Dey Das, Guest Lecturer at Sachin Debbarman Memorial Government Music College, Agartala, stands as one of Tripura’s most distinguished voices in Hindustani classical and semi‑classical music.
A devoted guardian of Nazrul Sangeet, she preserves its authentic notation and melodic purity, ensuring audiences experience the true essence of Kazi Nazrul Islam’s timeless songs.
Her artistry extends far beyond Nazrul Sangeet—embracing Rabindra Sangeet, folk traditions, modern Bengali Adhunik songs, and bhajans—reflecting a versatile repertoire that bridges classical depth with light music’s lyrical charm. Recognized as a B‑Grade Performer in Nazrul Sangeet by All India Radio (2023) and honored as a B‑High Grade Artist in Bhajan by Akashvani (2019), Anupama Dey Das continues to illuminate Tripura’s cultural landscape with her voice, scholarship and passion for music.
Her dedication has carried her beyond borders—performing at the Nazrul Festival in Bangladesh in 2019—now earned her recognition as a B‑High Grade Artist in Hindustani Classical Music (Thumri/Dadra and Light Classical).
Roots of a Resonant Journey
Anupama Dey Das began her musical odyssey under the tutelage of the late Noni Gopal Chakraborty, one of Tripura’s eminent maestros.
Her path was further enriched by guidance from the late Mrinal Chakraborty and Sri Bhajan Chakraborty, each shaping her artistry with depth and discipline.
In recent years, she has pursued advanced training in Indian Classical Music with Smt. Sakti Chakraborty, while Smt. Maya Roy has nurtured her profound understanding of Nazrul Sangeet.
Through performances across Tripura, she continues to reveal the authentic notes and melodies of Kazi Nazrul Islam’s creations, preserving their essence for new generations.
