Trinity — Santiniketan Kala Bhavan Praktoni’s Celebration of Artistic Legacy
The recently held exhibition Trinity, curated by Dr. Bhavna Khajuria Basumatary, unfolded as a luminous chapter in Santiniketan’s artistic journey. Organized by Santiniketan Kala Bhavan Praktoni in collaboration with RITI Academy of Visual Arts and Kritika Arts Space, the exhibition is on show from 5th April 2026 till 18th April 2026 at Kritika Arts Space, Gurupalli, Santiniketan.
Inaugurated by Dr. Rahas Kumar Mohanty, Secretary In-charge of Lalit Kala Akademi Regional Centre, Kolkata, the exhibition brought together rare works from Santiniketan’s treasured collections. Trinity was not merely an exhibition, but a dialogue between heritage and contemporary sensibilities — a confluence of vision, memory and creativity that echoed the spirit of Santiniketan’s artistic philosophy.
Santiniketan Kala Bhavan Praktoni — A Cultural Symphony of Trinity
With an air of timeless grace, the exhibition Trinity commenced as Dr. Tanima Bhattacharya’s announcement gently opened the evening, soon enriched by a resonant choral Tagore song from Santiniketan Kala Bhavan Praktoni — a beginning steeped in elegance and tradition.
A warm introduction by Sunanda Sanyal, Secretary of SKBP, set the tone for welcoming distinguished guests and artists with uttariya and floral tributes, before the ceremonial lamp-lighting marked the formal inauguration.
The inaugural speeches reflected the spirit of collaboration and reverence for art. From the curator’s vision shared by Dr. Bhavna Khajuria Basumatary, to the insights of Dr. Rahas Kumar Mohanty, Secretary of Lalit Kala Akademi Regional Centre, Kolkata, and the reflections of eminent artist Promud Barauh, each voice added depth to the occasion.
Contributions from Raphael Warjri of RITI Academy of Shillong, Prof. SK Sahajahan of Kritika Arts Space, and Prof. Nandadulal Mukherjee, Vice-President of SKBP, enriched the dialogue, culminating in the chairman Dr. Janak Jhankar Narzary’s address.
The evening closed with another Tagore song, performed by guest artist Soumya Bhadury, followed by a heartfelt vote of thanks from Biswajit Das Bairagya.
The program continued with special highlights, including the Bhupen Hazarika birth centenary celebration on 6th April, and will be concluded with a graceful closing ceremony on 18th April 2026.
Together, these moments shaped Trinity into a radiant symphony — a timeless celebration of Santiniketan’s legacy.
