Dhrupad Vaibhav V – A Timeless Celebration of India’s Oldest Classical Tradition
Dhrupad Vaibhav V, curated by Pandit Nirmalya Dey under the aegis of The Raza Foundation and Nadachakra Trust, promises to be a luminous celebration of India’s oldest living classical tradition.
Held on 1st and 2nd April 2026 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, the festival unfolds across two evenings where voices and instruments converse in timeless harmony.
On 1st April, the stage will resonate with the meditative dhrupad of Dhani Gundecha, accompanied on the pakhawaj by Dhyaneshwar Deshmukh, followed by the majestic surbahar recital of Mita Nag, accompanied by Manmohan Nayak.
Dhani Gundecha— one of the leading young vocalists of Indian classical music, has dedicated nearly a decade to the practice of dhrupad, earning prestigious scholarships and awards for his fine craftsmanship and unique aesthetic.

Mita Nag — torchbearer of the Bishnupur Gharana and founder of the Gokul Nag Memorial Foundation, carries forward the luminous legacy of three generations. Inspired by the legendary Annapurna Devi, her artistry as a distinguished lady surbahar player resonates with depth, devotion and heritage.
On 2nd April 2026, the resonant pakhawaj solo of Rishi Shankar Upadhyay, accompanied by Lalit Sisodia on harmonium, will set the tone for the profound artistry of Ustad Fayaz Wasifuddin Dagar, accompanied by Pandit Mohan Shyam Sharma on pakhawaj.
Each performance, enriched by masterful accompaniment, becomes more than a recital—it is a dialogue between heritage and innovation, a testament to the enduring spirit of cultural continuity.
