48th Annual Convocation of Sarbabharatiya Sangeet-O-Sanskriti Parishad: A Celebration of Tradition and Excellence
On 12th March 2026, the prestigious Sarbabharatiya Sangeet-O-Sanskriti Parishad, Kolkata marked a luminous milestone with its 48th Annual Convocation.
The event unfolded as a confluence of heritage, scholarship and artistry, bringing together stalwarts of Indian classical music, dance and cultural thought under one resonant banner.
Presided over by Padma Shri Pandit Manilal Nag, the convocation carried the weight of tradition with elegance. The presence of Prof. Amita Dutt as Vice President and Dr. Guru Thankamani Kutty as Rector added depth to the gathering, while the inauguration by Prof. Nirmalya Narayan Chakraborty, Vice Chancellor of Presidency University, set a scholarly tone. The distinguished Chief Guest, Professor (Dr.) Tapati Chakraborti, Vice Chancellor of Kanyashree University, further enriched the proceedings with her vision for cultural academia.
The 48th Annual Convocation was graced by eminent Special Guests—Dr. Kalyn Kumar Chakravarty, IAS (Rtd), a historian of repute; Swami Prananathananda of Ramkrishna Mission, Golpark; Lt. Col. Anant Sinha, Administrator of The Asiatic Society, Kolkata; and Krish Ghosh, Executive Committee Member of CAB NABC 2026. Their presence reflected the Parishad’s commitment to bridging tradition with contemporary thought.
A highlight of the evening was the conferring of the Kalamani Awards upon Shri Tarak Garai, Shri Tridib Kumar Chatterjee, Pandit Samar Saha and Shree Jay Narayan Shrivastava, each a torchbearer of India’s rich performing arts legacy.
The Kajal Sengupta Memorial Award was bestowed upon Shree Srikanta Acharya, honoring his contribution to music with reverence and admiration.
The evening’s flow was harmoniously guided by Sri Debasish Basu as compere, while Dr. Santanu Sengupta, Secretary of the Parishad, ensured the event’s seamless orchestration. Together, they created an atmosphere where tradition met innovation, and recognition became a celebration of collective cultural spirit.
