Kalyani Nupur Dance Academy’s 31st Year Celebration: A Six-Day Festival of Classical Grace

Marking a glorious milestone, Kalyani Nupur Dance Academy celebrates its 31st year with a vibrant six-day dance festival—an ode to tradition, artistry and enduring dedication.

Curated and conducted by Soumen Ghosh, this cultural confluence unfolds across three distinguished venues: Rittik Sadan in Kalyani (January 15–18), Nazrul Manch in Ranaghat (January 24), and Boro Jaguly Gopal Academy in Jaguly (January 31). This celebration is more than a performance—it is a living tribute to the academy’s unwavering commitment to nurturing classical dance.

The festival brings together eminent guests and performers whose presence elevates the occasion with grace and gravitas. Among the distinguished invitees are Deipali Mandavkkar from Mumbai, Dr. Mahuya Mukherjee and Dr. Subhashish Bhattacharya—both former stalwarts of Rabindra Bharati University—and the revered Guru Susmita Bhattacharya, an eminent dancer whose legacy continues to inspire generations.

Lecture Demonstration & Workshop on Gaudiya Nritya

At the heart of Kalyani Nupur Dance Academy’s 31st year celebration, a luminous moment unfolded on January 15, 2026, at Rittik Sadan, Kalyani—where tradition met scholarship in a Lecture Demonstration and Workshop on Gaudiya Nritya, conducted by Prof. Dr. Mahua Mukherjee and Pandit Amitava Mukherjee of Gaudiya Nritya Bharati. Dr. Mukherjee’s performance radiated with rare grace and cultural depth, embodying centuries of spiritual and artistic lineage.

“Gaudiya Nritya is passing through the ages till 4th century BCE,” she shared, “with terracotta dancing sculptures and later the Natya Shastra—dwelling upon Shaiva, Shakta, and Vaishnavite influences.”

The rendition of Saraswati Vandana, enriched by the vocal support of Pandit Amitava Mukherjee, became a sacred invocation of knowledge and rhythm. Dr. Mukherjee’s presence was more than symbolic—it was a living reaffirmation of Gaudiya Nritya and the rich classical dance traditions, echoing through time with lyrical devotion and scholarly precision.

OVER THREE DECADES, KALYANI NUPUR DANCE ACADEMY HAS BLOSSOMED INTO A SANCTUARY OF RHYTHM AND EXPRESSION, SHAPING YOUNG TALENTS AND FOSTERING A DEEP REVERENCE FOR INDIA’S RICH DANCE HERITAGE.
