Aïom Ksiar 2025: Golden Harvest of Art, Culture and Community in Jaintia Hills
Thoh Shun Art Camp Blooms in Krangshuri’s Embrace
Under the soft December skies of Meghalaya, the Thoh Shun Art Camp opened its heart to creativity at the Moopyniën Heritage Campsite in Krangshuri, Amlarem.
THOH SHUN Art Camp 2025, a collaboration between RITI Academy of Visual Art, Shillong and Santiniketan Kala Bhavan Praktoni, Santiniketan, concluded on 24 December 2025. The artworks remain on view till 30 December, honoring Kiang Nangbah Day and the state’s freedom fighters. Born of shared heritage and nature’s muse, this exchange painted stories that crossed borders.
Shri. Rembrandt I Kharnaior offered a warm welcome, as renowned artist Raphael Warjri reflected on Khasi philosophy and paid tribute to Soso Tham, the beloved bard of Meghalaya, whose legacy was reverently remembered on his death anniversary.
The presence of eminent artists Prof. Janak Jhankar Narzari and Prof. V. Nagdas, Chairman of Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, added depth and distinction to the gathering.
Inaugurating the Thoh Shun Art Camp 2025, distinguished artist Dr. Janak Jhankar Narzari—former principal of Kala Bhavan, Visva-Bharati—spoke with gentle conviction on the need for regular exchanges that nurture growth and deepen cultural bonds. Recalling his 2006 visit to Sohra, he admired Meghalaya’s quiet beauty and resilient spirit, where local talents flourish despite limited infrastructure.
Amid nature’s poetry, the camp became a testament to that spirit, as renowned artists including Prof. Janak Jhankar Narzari, Raphael Warjri, Haren Thakur, Phalbha Kupar Kharlukhi, Manoj Roy, Relurnwellsulong, Bantellang Hynniewta, Rickyshi Sulam, Baniar G L Mawphlang, Clive Steven Kharphuli, Thiyam Debendra Singh, Prof. Kantha Reddi, and many others have come together to share, learn and create in this serene setting.
From 18 December, the Moopynïeiñ Heritage Campsite in Jaintia Hills bloomed with Aïom Ksiar – The Golden Harvest Festival, where megalithic wonders, adventure tents, refreshing swims, and ethnic cuisine echoed the warmth of the land and its people.
Aïom Ksiar was not just a festival—it was a golden embrace of art, spirit and shared dreams.
