Creativity Confluence: Honouring Uday Shankar’s Legacy Through Dance and Dialogue

In celebration of the 125th birth anniversary of Shri Uday Shankar, Santoshpur Prabaha Kalabhoomi, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, presents Creativity Confluence—a heartfelt academic session exploring the spirit of creativity through the lens of Rabindranath Tagore’s works. Curated by Natyashri Smt Debjani Chatterjee, the event brings together eminent voices including Padmashree Smt Mamata Shankar, Smt Priti Patel, Shri Ashimbandhu Bhattacharya, and artists from Kalamandalam Kolkata and Dancers Guild Kolkata. 

Set to unfold on 17th December 2026 at 4:30 PM at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Saltlake Kolkata, this gathering promises a rich tapestry of thought, movement, and homage to India’s artistic heritage.

Creativity Confluence, envisioned by Natyashri Smt Debjani Chatterjee, Artistic Director of Prabaha Kalabhoomi, offers a rare and enriching space for dancers, learners and rasikas to deepen their understanding and awaken their creative spirit. Rooted in Bengal’s cultural soil, the session draws inspiration from the timeless works of Rabindranath Tagore—whose poetry and compositions remain central to every dancer’s journey. 

Honouring this legacy, the scholastic programme brings together distinguished voices: Padmashri Smt Mamata Shankar (Shankar style), Smt Priti Patel (Manipuri), Sri Ashimbandhu Bhattacharya (Kathak), Smt Malabika Sen representing Dr Thankamani Kutti and Kalamandalam Kolkata (Bharatanatyam, Mohiniattam, Kathakali), and Dr Aishika Chakraborti from Dancers Guild (Nabanritya). 

Their presence promises a confluence of tradition, insight, and inspiration.
