Remya Brijesh – Weaving Nature, Memory and Legacy into Art
ARTIST REMYA BRIJESH PRESENTS HER SOLO EXHIBITION VOYAGE OF THE SOUL, CURATED BY GEORGINA MADDOX, AT KALAMKAAR GALLERY, BIKANER HOUSE, NEW DELHI.
Rooted in Kerala’s mural traditions, her canvases evoke memory, resilience and belonging—each brushstroke a quiet return to rivers, homes and stories that shape the soul. “Remya’s work is a meditation on the porousness of borders—between land and water, self and other, memory and moment. She paints not to possess, but to connect: to the feminine, the elderly, the child, and the quiet resilience that binds generations. Her empathy is tactile, shaped by the warmth of her grandparents’ guidance and the strength it lent her in adulthood.” —curator Georgina Maddox.
“Each brushstroke is a return—a quiet journey back to the rivers of my childhood, the warmth of my grandparents’ home, and the stories that shaped me. Voyage of the Soul is not just about memory; it’s about presence, about finding beauty in the everyday and honoring the invisible threads that connect us all.” — artist Remya Brijesh.
Remya Brijesh, an artist and educator based in Gurugram, draws inspiration from nature’s rhythms and everyday beauty. Born in Ottapalam, Kerala, and raised in Attingal near Kilimanoor—the birthplace of Raja Ravi Varma—she carries forward the creative legacy of her father, the late Shri K. Chandrahasan.
