DHRUPADI 2025: A Tribute to Legends, A Celebration of Classical Dance
On 9th November 2025, the stage at Gyan Manch, Kolkata will glow with timeless grace as Nritya Dhrupadi Music and Dance Research Centre presents the 4th Edition of DHRUPADI 2025, a classical dance festival held in loving memory of Padma Vibhushan Pandit. Birju Maharaj ji and Guru Kalamandalam V. R. Venkitt ji.
Curated by Dr. Sucharita Datta Ghata, the festival brings together the soul of Kathak and Bharatanatyam, honouring India’s rich traditions with elegance and devotion.
In collaboration with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kolkata and Infosys Foundation, Bengaluru, this year’s edition welcomes the revered Vidushi Mamta Maharaj, whose presence adds a radiant note to the evening of rhythm, reverence and remembrance.
As twilight falls on Gyan Manch, the air will shimmer with rhythm and reverence. DHRUPADI 2025 opens with vibrant group performances in Kathak and Bharatanatyam by the senior and junior disciples of Nritya Dhrupadi, weaving stories through movement and melody.
The second half unfolds with a soulful solo Kathak recital by Dr. Sucharita Datta Ghata, followed by the graceful artistry of Vidushi Mamta Maharaj, whose concluding performance in the Lucknow Gharana style promises a luminous finale.
Accompanied by renowned musicians Shri Subir Thakur on Tabla, Shri Arindam Bhattacharya on Vocal, and Shri Chandrachur Bhattacharjee on Sitar—with lights by Shri Nitya Naskar and sound by Shri Hashi Panchal—the evening will be a tapestry of tradition and tribute.
