Art Meets Innovation: Larissa Noury Shines at IPSA’s Art & Science Celebration

On October 9, 2025, the Institut Polytechnique des Sciences Avancées (IPSA)—France’s leading aerospace and mobility engineering school—hosted a vibrant event blending creativity and technology: Art & Science – Book Signing, Exhibition & Performance.

Spearheaded by IPSA’s dynamic General Director, Anne-Ségolène Abscheidt, the event featured Dr. Larissa Noury—renowned  architect-colourist, whose signature multidimensional colors graced the cover of the groundbreaking book “AI and Transport: Towards an Autonomous World.” Co-authored by renowned Noureddine Boudouaz, Valérie Lejeune, Daniela Peschard and Arthur Hervochon; and  published by Harmattan, the book reflects the collective insights of students, researchers and industry experts exploring the future of mobility through artificial intelligence.

Dr. Larissa Noury, the celebrated architect-colourist, recently shared her story with the communications team at IPSA – the Polytechnic Institute of Advanced Sciences.

A graduate of Minsk Polytechnic School, with dual doctorates in Architecture and Art History from Bordeaux III, Larissa is a pioneer of “COLOR OF THE FUTURE”—a tactile, multidimensional technique that transforms natural materials into cosmic landscapes and aerial visions.

Her “Alive Painting” collection features hand-painted dresses that breathe with artistic energy. For Larissa, color is more than pigment—it is a living language at the meeting point of science and art.

Her research explores how cities reflect layered histories through visual harmony, a theme she teaches and writes about in her books, now used by students across France.

With accolades like the Lépine gold medal and praise from UNESCO journalist Paola Antolini, Larissa’s work radiates a dreamlike force—“a fairy of light” whose art uplifts and inspires.

The evening was a celebration of vision, dialogue and artistic brilliance—where science met soul, and innovation found its color.

Dr. Larissa Noury shared her thoughts, adding depth to a truly inspiring experience.

Constellations to Leonardo da Vinci, art and science have always been linked together—and still relevant?

Dr. Larissa Noury:  Since the dawn of time, art and science have always been linked. I would like to mention the Nazca geoglyphs, which I flew over and photographed in Peru, and the representations of constellations at Denderah and Saqqara in Egypt. The Greeks, like the Babylonians and Egyptians, had an artistic approach based primarily on research and science to represent the sky and its stars in their creations. Still in the Renaissance, in the Quattrocento, Leonardo da Vinci is known as a man of science, technology and art. He created designs for helicopters, ornithopters, and other machines; he invented the painting technique of “sfumato,” which represents the superposition of layers (like mine, but translucent).

Several artistic movements of the 19th and 20th centuries were linked to scientific experiments: Impressionism, Expressionism, Surrealism, Kinetic Art, Optical Art, Digital Art, Fractal Art, Net.art, etc. Currently, it is artificial intelligence (AI) that is rapidly transforming the landscape of art and science.

What does the title of the Book mean to you—and how does your painting reflect it?

Dr. Larissa Noury: This beautiful book is a collective creation that allows us to delve into the heart of aeronautical innovation. The theme of AI and transportation is very important because it is linked to the dynamics and innovation serving the aeronautics industry.

I am very happy that my painting was selected for the cover of this noble work. This work symbolically represents the birth of the universe, of space, of light. It symbolizes the logic of the creation of the values of the known and unknown, visible and invisible worlds. At once dynamic and poised, rich in tactile textures, nuances, and vibrations, it is an alliance between art and science through the technique of New Impressionism that I explored. Up close, these are the vibrant nuances of visual space with these bubbling elements, but when you step back, you see the universe being created, the planets moving, the constellations sparkling.

Larissa Noury’s Guestbook glows with poetic reflections on her art. Viewers speak of a universe without borders, where light emerges from layered colors and gravity dissolves into motion.

As one guestbook reflection beautifully captures: “The black hole is not an illusion… it is the arrival of light through superimposed colors.”

Her painting ‘Birth of Light’ evokes a vibrant cosmos circling a dark core, capturing the dance of energy and matter. Through her “tactile color” technique, she invites us to float in this ocean of hues—where creation and ending swirl together, asking not for fear, but for quiet surrender.

Why participate in this book project ?

Dr. Larissa Noury: “It is through experience that science and art progress,” said Aristotle. Always eager to progress, my goal is to participate in new projects, because each time they are new experiences, encounters that open up unexpected perspectives, which change many things in our professional and personal journeys.

Art seeks beauty and speaks to the emotions of our being; “Beauty will save the world” – according to Dostoevsky. And science seeks truth and speaks to reason. It would be wise if artists and scientists truly committed to research through observation, analysis, and experimentation.

What messages to IPSA students?

Dr. Larissa Noury: Dare to create! AI can serve as a tool to explore new creative avenues and push boundaries! But the processing of human ideas always remains.

Art is an inexhaustible source of invaluable inspiration for scientists and innovators alike. Observing things from a different perspective, trying to see the invisible and explain the inexplicable can often reveal hidden perspectives and new ways of thinking.

Creative expression can push you to explore beyond the limits of current knowledge and to explore new possibilities.

Messages to art and aeronautics enthusiasts

Dr. Larissa Noury: Let us remain eternal students and architects of the passing of time so that we can learn new things and create new creations, striving to experience the most beautiful of things—harmony and beauty—to improve humanity. I invite you to discover the new capabilities of art’s perception of tactile light and immaterial colors to create an image of interstellar infinity. “Arts-Multimedia-Science” is a workshop that can bring together art and science, where we can discover new creative energies and images beyond the visible, on a scale from the infinitely large to the infinitely small.

A new vision unfolds—where tactile light and immaterial color reveal infinity, from stars to atoms.

“Color is a hope for happiness, and happiness is true when it is shared.”
