IN A VIBRANT CELEBRATION OF YOUTHFUL IMAGINATION AND INTERDISCIPLINARY CREATIVITY, VIDYALAYA VISUALS EMERGES AS A RADIANT TESTAMENT TO THE POWER OF COLLABORATIVE LEARNING.
Vidyalaya Visuals: A Student-Led Art Book Celebrating Creativity and Collaboration at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, Dharmapuri
In a heartwarming celebration of student creativity and interdisciplinary learning, PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, Dharmapuri witnessed the unveiling of Vidyalaya Visuals—a stunning interdisciplinary art project crafted by the imaginative minds of 70 Class VII students.
Launched with grace by Mrs. Mini Mullath, Assistant Commissioner of KVS R.O. Chennai, in the presence of Hon. Principal, Shri. Shambhu Dayal Meena, the book stands as a beacon of youthful expression and educational innovation. Published under the thoughtful stewardship of Mrs. Reshma V, the school’s librarian, this project is more than a compilation of drawings—it is a living archive of ideas, emotions, and collaborative learning.
Spearheaded by the visionary art teacher Rajat Kumar Pandey—an alumnus of Banaras Hindu University—the project brought together 70 Class VII students in a vibrant fusion of handmade illustrations and digital iconography.
“These projects beautifully integrate Art with subjects like Science, Math, History and Language. Congratulations to all students for their outstanding contributions!” — Shri. Shambhu Dayal Meena, Principal.
In the quiet corridors of PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, Dharmapuri, where creativity finds its rhythm in the hands of young learners, Art Teacher Rajat Kumar Pandey stands as a guiding force—blending tradition, innovation and heartfelt mentorship.
His recent artistic endeavor, Vidyalaya Visuals, not only showcases the brilliance of student collaboration but also reflects the institutional support that fuels such dreams.
“I extend my sincere gratitude to Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Headquarters (KVSHQ) for their continuous support and encouragement in promoting quality educational resources,” Pandey shared, his words echoing the spirit of collective progress.
Every page reflects philosophy
To teach students not just how to draw, but how to think, select, simplify and ultimately express. From handmade sketches to digital icons, the students’ work radiates authenticity and effort.
As Rajat Kumar Pandey himself shares, “I initiated this project to help them go through the process… and make a digital drawing of icons.” With three printed copies now housed in the school library, Vidyalaya Visuals stands as a tribute to the spirit of learning, the joy of creation, and the quiet power of mentorship.
“The goal of education is not to increase the amount of knowledge but to create the possibilities for a child to invent and discover,” wrote Jean Piaget—and it is this philosophy that pulses at the heart of Rajat Kumar Pandey’s conceptual approach to art education.
As an art teacher, Pandey transcends the conventional boundaries of brush and canvas, guiding students to see art not merely as a subject, but as a language of thought, emotion, and inquiry. His note reveals a deep commitment to nurturing critical thinking, creativity and self-expression through the principles of design and interdisciplinary integration. In his classroom, art becomes a mirror to the world and a window to the self—where every stroke is a question, and every color, a possibility.
The Book-Vidyalaya Visuals launch at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, Dharmapuri was not just an event—it was a moment of pride and wonder for the students who poured their imagination into every brushstroke and idea.
“I learnt about icons and symbols and why they are used—it’s to identify a room or a thing,” shared C.D. Preethi, beaming with pride.
From learning about the significance of icons and symbols to understanding how visuals can communicate meaning and identity, students including A. Iniya, B. Shanmukhnath, Dharshanik, G. Kokul, Harith C., Jishnuvika, Joshua A., M.C. Dhaaniyashri, M. Devashri, M.G. Poorvashree, M. Mohamed Zeeshan, M. Pavan, M. Shathvika, M. Virat, N. Mukelan, P. Gowtham, P. Yallnie, Parthasarathi, S.
