Kalinka Art Gallery, Pondicherry, presents Spiritual Minimalism, a contemplative solo exhibition by renowned artist Dr. Gopal Jayaraman, unfolding from September 5ᵗʰ to October 4ᵗʰ, 2025, in the heart of Pondicherry.

His journey—spanning over 31 years—has gracefully traversed continents and disciplines, from nurturing young minds in Botswana to conserving India’s sacred murals and royal masterpieces.
A graduate of Bharathiyar Palkalaikoodam, Puducherry, and a key contributor to INTACH’s conservation efforts, Dr. Gopal’s artistry is not confined to canvas alone—it breathes through temple frescoes, palace walls, and the cultural dialogues he fosters.
His legacy is etched not just in pigment and plaster, but in the hearts of communities he’s touched as an educator, curator and ambassador of heritage.

Rooted in scholarship and elevated by vision, Dr. Gopal Jayaraman’s journey is a confluence of intellect, artistry and service.
With multiple Master’s degrees and a Doctorate in Literature and Philosophy in Art History from the University of South Africa (UNISA), Pretoria, his thesis on “Visual Expressions of Hindu Yogis’ Performances: A Study” carved a contemplative path between aesthetics and spirituality.
As a Fine Arts faculty in Botswana and later as Regional Director of IGNCA, Puducherry, he has shaped cultural landscapes with grace and resilience—even amidst the trials of a global pandemic. Founder of the I Art Research Foundation, Dr. Gopal continues to nurture young artists and foster meaningful dialogue between tradition and innovation.

Kalinka Art Gallery
Karine Pelade, founder of Kalinka Art Gallery, returns to curate the solo exhibition by the acclaimed artist Gopal Jayaraman—marking their second collaboration.
“This show brings together Gopal Jayaraman’s latest works. His first solo with us was held eight years ago, at our former space in White Town,” shares Karine.
Established in 2015, Kalinka Art Gallery began its journey in the heart of White Town, Pondicherry. After closing its doors ahead of the pandemic, the gallery reopened in a new avatar in July 2023—continuing its commitment to showcasing contemporary artistic voices.
